The New Zealand Association of Tertiary Education Accommodation Professionals is a long-standing organisation (formed in 1965) for people who are primarily concerned with providing the thousands of tertiary students in New Zealand the best possible environment for living within tertiary institution accommodation.

NZATEAP supports its members and encourage their professional development, while contributing to the improvement and coordination of the various aspects of student residence, food service, developmental programming, community development, administration and related operations. The Association seeks to influence others to share in the vision of colleges and halls and to influence tertiary education initiatives associated with residential communities.  Sharing and networking is core to the associations functions and the approximately 100 members use this website and other tools to share best practice.

NZATEAP aims:

  • To support and encourage the professional development of Association members through mutual support, chapter meetings, induction programmes and conferences.
  • To promote the benefits of the supportive academic and social environment provided by tertiary student accommodation.
  • To nurture amongst Association members a commitment to provide their residents with a living environment that stimulates, supports and challenges students to gain maximum benefit from their time in tertiary student accommodation.
  • To develop professional standards, peer review processes and an awareness of legal and ethical responsibilities.
  • To encourage membership of NZATEAP by all professional staff who are primarily involved in the pastoral care and/or administration of residents in tertiary student accommodation.
